God Hears and Answers Prayers

Last Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day so we decided to go fishing together as a family.  Eric has already gone fishing several times this summer with just Lily and Caleb but unfortunately has caught nothing.  Both Lily and Caleb were pretty skeptical about fishing since past experiences have been fruitless so I suggested we pray before daddy started fishing.  Caleb offered a short prayer thanking Heavenly Father for the sunshine and good weather and asking him to bless daddy to catch a fish.  Well Heavenly Father heard that prayer (and has sense of humor) cause not 5 minutes later Eric caught a fish.

I can never get all my kids to smile at the camera at the same time.

The fish, as you can see, was small, a little too small to keep so we threw it back into the ocean but it was a testament to us and our kids that God hears and answers his children's prayers...next time we'll have to be a little more specific on the size and number of fish we would like to catch :)

May's, June's and July's Quotes

Lily: "Hey Caleb are you angry?"
Caleb: "No I’m not angry, I’m just a man!"

Me: “How are doing Caleb?”
Caleb: “Oh, I’m doing good…now that I’m sitting down and not running into things."

Caleb was sitting on my lap and let one rip...
Mom: "Hey you tooted on me! That was kinda a musky smelling toot.”
Caleb: "Nope that was just my poop smell.”

Lily: “Hey Mom I have two under shoulders.”
Mom: “…do you mean arm pits?”
Lil: “Yeah.”

Caleb: "No! The horse doesn’t make the rules, the cowboy does!” (Lily and Caleb were playing horse and cowboy and he was the cowboy)

Eric’s brother and mom and dad had come to visit us for a week and for part of their visit they did a quick two day trip up in Canada to check out Victorias gardens. Well they left early in the morning before the kids woke up so when they did this is the conversation that took place when Caleb discovered Ian wasn’t in Kylie’s room…

Caleb: “Hey Lily Uncle Ian is DEAD!!”
Lily:”No he’s not dead he just went on an adventure with Papa and Grandma!”

Caleb: ”Hey mom how come you have hair on your arms? Are you growing into a dad?”

We were driving home from visiting family in Kennewick and as we were passing some farms the following conversation occurred...
Lily:"What is that yucky smell?"
Dad: "Its the cows."
Lily:"Well the farmer should give them a bath."

March and April's Quotes

Lily: "Mom can we please have the loopdy loops for breakfast?”
translation...Fruit Loops

Caleb: “Hey Lily I pooped a BIG one!”
Lily: “Well congratulations!”

Caleb holding a small bottle of Gatorade,
“When I fro-up, then I fro-up and then I drink this from the magic cup!”

Caleb: “Mom I’m not 3 I’m 5.”
Mom: “Nope, you're 3.”
Caleb: “No!! I’m older! I want to be bigger so I can have a sharp knife and cut my house down!”

….good grief

Lily: “Hey mom, are we having Smashed potatoes for dinner?”

Breakfast time….
Lily: “Can I have some more snow flakes please?”
Mom: “Do you mean frosted flakes?”
Lily: “Yeah."

Lily’s mispronunciation - hanitizer (Hand Sanitizer), Bazert (Dessert)
Caleb’s mispronunciation - wick (lick), willy (Lily), kywee (Kylie), wolly pop (lolly pop) yep...caleb can’t say his L’s

Mom:”Caleb if you jump over that fence you’re gonna be in trouble.”
Caleb: “By who?...The cops?”
Mom:”No, by me."

Lily: “Watch this Dad! Watch me slip up this big noodle!”

After cleaning her hands with a wet rag and then drying them off with a hand towel this is what Lily had to say about them...
Lily: "This rag smells like soap...but this dry one smells like fro-up.”

Lily was rough housing on the couch and after hurting herself said …
“Mom! There’s hard stuff in the soft stuff!”
Translation...cushions = "soft stuff” the couches frame work = “the hard stuff”

Currently we live on an island and the nearest Costco is a 45 minute drive and on our last trip Lily said the following after being in the car only 10 minutes...“Mom can we just fast forward to Costco?!”
Sometimes I too wish we could fast forward car trips, especially the long ones.

Lily: “Sorry Mom, I accidentally did that on purpose.”

Lily: “Hey Mom, grown up movies are either boring or scary, right?”

We were watching only the not too scary parts of The Hobbit and Lily noticed Frodo had no shoes on when checking the mail for Bilbo
Lily: “Why doesn’t he have any shoes?”
Dad:”Cause he has big hairy feet that are tough.”
Lily:”Like you?”

Eric was going to quickly go run an errand for me and before heading out the door stopped to smell his arm pits and Lily who was watching asked…”What do you smell like daddy?”

I had just had a particularly trying day and once Eric got home I headed outside to our small patio with my dinner to be alone…not 3 minutes pass by and Caleb comes out
Caleb:”Mom why are you eating your food outside?”
Mom:”Because I want some peace and quite.”
Caleb:”Okay…I’ll go get my dinner too.” :)

2 Month Mark

So life has been very busy since Audrey has joined the clan. My dear sweet mother came out for a week after Audrey was born to help out as I continued to recover. We loved having her and I feel incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful mother who is so selfless, kind and loving. She was such a big help, she made wonderful meals for us, took the older kids to the park so that I could nap, kept up on the wash, read books to Lily and Caleb, played "dead man dead man come alive!" Made scrumptious chocolate heart shaped sugar cookies for Valentines Day and basically filled any need she saw that needed to be filled. Is she awesome? I think yes!!

Audrey was given her baby blessing by Eric at the beginning of March and was blessed in the exact dress I was blessed in. Kylie was also blessed in this dress but due to a crummy lap top we owned at the time we lost those pictures when it crashed :(

There are probably a lot of random pictures in this post but I'm basically just trying to capture these first few months cause Audrey is changing so quickly. We love her lots and I couldn't be more pleased with how the older children, especially Kylie, are so taken with her :)
